Detecting the number of revolutions of a wheel or traction motor in locomotives and urban trains (LRV and metro) is of particular importance. Speed sensors in braking systems measure wheel rotation, and with the output data from this sensor, the braking system prevents the train from slipping during braking.
In traction motors and urban trains (LRV), the speed sensor is installed at the motor or a part of the gearbox, and its output is connected to the traction control system. The train’s traction control system optimizes motor performance based on the speed sensor’s output data.
The Azonic speed sensor is designed in compliance with the EN50155 rail standard and is fully compatible in performance and specifications with Lenord models GEL247X and GEL247Y. This speed sensor is manufactured using special Hall-effect sensors capable of operating at high temperatures and frequencies. The Azonic speed sensor’s body is made from stainless steel in a single piece, fully sealed, and rated IP68.
The Azonic speed sensor can be provided with single or dual outputs. In both types, inverted outputs are also available.
